Colorado linebacker coach Andre Hart had an opening line on the first day of practice from Billy The Kid.
“I’ll make you famous.”
A big fan of western movies, Young Guns included, Hart was advising the players that cameras and attention will not be in short supply at Colorado. His message was simple, the world will see what you do that is good and what is bad.
Hart is a longtime friend of Coach Prime who has coached besides Sanders even before Jackson State. Every thing they’ve put together as a team comes down to one foundational thing: fast. Tempo was the name of the game after the first practice under Hart.
“They did give me the effort I was looking for, we had some MA’s, missed assignments, mental errors that we got to clean up. We’ll get there, but I was impressed with the effort, everyone was running to the ball. I don’t think they were used to the pace. We only do an hour and a half, hour and forty five minutes because we want game reps. We already know if we do two hours or more guys are going to save it, and they aren’t going to go as hard as they need to go,” Hart said.
The players will reach their stride when it comes to the speed of the game thanks to the repetitions. When Colorado hits the field versus TCU they are going down in the canon of college football, as the first game of the Coach Prime era. As Andre Hart promised they are going to be famous, either good or bad.
