At the first team meeting at Colorado, Deion Sanders had a vision of what he wanted to present to his team. More importantly he had a concrete idea about who was going to present it. The players themselves.
Sanders’ son and quarterback Shedeur Sanders addressed the team about the principles of being smart. It’s one of the tenants of Coach Prime since his first day of coaching. He has repeated several times the importance of being tough, smart, fast and disclipined with character.
So it was no big surprise that his star corner and wide receiver Travis Hunter addressed his teammates around the idea of being tough. Hunter wasn’t a loud “rah rah” guy during his time speaking, but anyone who has seen the tape on Hunter knows he does all of his talking on the field.
South Florida transfer and wide receiver Jimmy Horn Jr. addressed the team about being fast. Horn is the fastest man on the team, if you were to ask him. To date, no one has sown any doubt into the validity of his claim.
Shane Cokes took center stage in the auditorium to discuss discipline while Cameron Silmon-Craig brought home the importance of character.
Emerging personalities and leadership
There were more messages to drive home to the team, Jordan Domineck spoke about cleanliness as he drew a few laughs during his time on the microphone. Davonta Bentley gave the break down on dress code while Tyler Brown gave the low-down on weight room protocols and expectations.
Jace Feely was chosen to talk about competing and the meeting wrapped with one of the emerging personalities on the team. The walk-on with a mission, Charlie Offerdahl, spoke about opportunity and emphasized how he was there to take advantage of the one that he has.
