Quarterback Shedeur Sanders stood in front of reporters and a group of fans to answer a few questions and give his analysis of the Buffs camp so far.
“First couple of days have been real good,” Sanders said. “I’m excited to get back out there with the team, with the liners, with the receivers out there.”
Sanders said he’ll only speak on the offensive side of the ball.
“That’s the guys I build the most relationships with, I work with on a daily basis. I’m just loving being back.”
Sanders spoke on his teammate from Houston, wide receiver Jimmy Horn Jr.
“You know, he’s got a big year,” he said. “He understands like I feel like all the receivers understand what’s at stake, what’s the plan, what we’re trying to accomplish this year.”
Seeing the offense in a different light
Sanders mentioned learning a lot from offensive coordinator Sean Lewis.
“In the spring, I looked at the offense a certain way, then coming back, going back over, okay cool, I see it in a different light,” he said. “I’m happy we were able to spend the spring together and now I’m able to experience it like on a different level.”
The key to any offense is the ability of the offensive line to protect the quarterback. Sanders so far likes what he sees.
“Yeah, well, I feel like they’re good. We’re not in full pads yet, so I can’t even cap you down and lie to you. But I feel like they’re solid guys, and, you know, I’m excited to be around them, and when I stand around them, I feel protected. So going in practice, going against the ones, going against the D-line that we have is going to be extremely good,” Sanders said.
