Former NFL kicker, current sportscaster and father of Colorado kicker Jace Feely spoke with our Uncle Neely about the quick success of the CU football team. Something that didn’t surprise him.
“I like what I see out of everybody. But I wasn’t surprised. Everybody else was surprised. I kept telling everybody, You guys don’t know what you’re going to get. I kept saying how much better Shedeur was, than everyone thought he was, how accurate he was.”
“He plays on time in rhythm, and that’s just the talent that this team has. I think the speed and the talent in general people weren’t ready for. But this is the deal. Can you put it aside each week and build upon it and get ready and stay humble and stay hungry, that’s the big question” Feely said.
It’s a big weekend for Feely who has a broadcast in Denver on Sunday and the prerequisite production meetings throughout the weekend. Somehow he’s going to manage it all including watching Saturday’s game.
” I got the Broncos and the Raiders on Sunday. I got to run from here over to the Broncos practice, do production meetings, come back, watch the game tomorrow, run back, do production meetings, and then do my game on Sunday.”
Feely’s son Jace was 1-2 on field goals in the win against TCU last weekend. Feely’s first field goal was blocked, while he drilled his second attempt from 49 yards out.
You can see the entire interview with Feely in the video above as well as Deion Sanders addressing his team before practice on Friday. Colorado takes on Nebraska in its home opener in Boulder on Saturday at 12pm EST/10 am MST. The game is once again the Big Noon kickoff on Fox TV.
