Ahead of their anticipated home opener against the Nebraska Huskers, the CU Buffs received a special message from rapper Snoop Dogg this week.
After players filed into the team meeting room, Snoop Dogg appeared on screen in his durag, robe, and chain, with a bowl and a box of cereal in front of him.
This is the Week to Eat
“It’s rivalry week,” he said. “So you know what that means. It’s personal.”
Snoop let the Buffs know that “everybody is watching now.”
“Show up, show out, handle your assignments,” he said. “Tradition is on the line. Black and gold.”
Snoop continued.
“This is the week to eat,” he said. “Eat, eat, eat.”
Snoop then ripped open the box of cereal and poured it into his bowl, telling the Buffs it was a “bowl of corn huskers.” The room echoed with laughter, the Buffs clearly enjoying their motivational message from Snoop.
Success Shouldn’t Cloud Your Mind
Head Coach Deion Sanders followed up Snoop with his own messages to the entire team, setting the tone for this week’s practice.
“Coaches, get on their butts, do not take complacency,” he said. “Cause I don’t want them feeling like they really accomplished something cause we ain’t accomplished a darn thing yet. We did what we were supposed to do.”
Sanders further addressed the spotlight being put on the CU Buffs right now.
“Success shouldn’t cloud your mind or your judgment, or make you feel like you’re bigger than you really are,” he said. “You should expect success, you should know how to handle success, you should know how to deal with success. Because that’s something that it is who you are. It’s part of your daily life. That’s what we strive for, that’s what we’re gonna attain, that’s what we’re about.”
