NFL Hall of Famer, Super Bowl Champion and Defensive Player of The Year Warren Sapp pulled up on Head Coach Deion Sanders and the CU Buffs this week for the last few practices before facing off against TCU in Dallas.
Sapp walked onto the field with excitement.
“Please tell me I can see the mountains,” he said, walking further until a mountain came into view behind the football facility.
“Just wanted to make sure,” he said.
Uncle Neely of Thee Pregame Show asked Sapp his thoughts on what he’d seen in the Buffs this week.
“Sapp, ain’t no other way to put it, it’s a lot of eyes on this program,” Neely said. “But just because you got eyes on you don’t mean you know what you’re looking at. You are a Hall of Famer, you know what you’re looking at. When you see what Coach Prime has built even just in eight months, what do you see?”
“Something to be really encouraged about,” Sapp said. “I know a couple of Buffalo fans around Denver and some other places that call me up like ‘Yo, what it’s gon’ look like?’ I’m like, I ain’t got there yet. Let me get there. Let me get there and put my eyes on it and then I’ll let you know.”
After seeing it firsthand, Sapp has come to a conclusion.
“You’ll be real proud of the product you’re gonna get,” he said.
These Kids Are Coming
“When you when you see this D-line here, what are you seeing?” Neely said.
“You know, I was a little worried in the beginning,” Sapp said. “People sent me little tapes here, snippets here. I’m like, it’s not about size. It’s never the size of the dog, it’s the fight that’s in him.”
Sapp said you can “see their enthusiasm” and that the Buffs are “chomping at the bit to learn.”
“I love it,” he said. “They got a good group. All Buff fans, you’re gonna be mad you didn’t get a ticket.”
I Know What Deion Sanders is About
“You made a couple of visits when Prime was coaching Jackson State, to Miami,” Neely said. “One thing about him, he can do it wherever he is.”
Sapp said “there’s nothing that’s going to change about him.”
“When you as solid and consistent as he is, that he can go to your house and speak to the parents,” he said. “I’d give my son to Deion any day of the week and twice on Sunday because I know what he’s about. That’s why I came to visit. I want to see it. I know what he’s about and the man that he is.”
