Friday night’s game against Stanford was an epic showdown. Prior to the game, Uncle Neely took the opportunity to highlight the importance of diabetes within the Black community.
This is one of importance to Coach Deion Sanders, seeing that his daughter and student-athlete, Shelomi Sanders, has diabetes and is managing it well.
Taking Care of Yourself
Another person who attended Friday night’s game had some great advice on the matter — famous actor, comedian, and game show host Anthony Anderson. Anderson has type 2 diabetes.
“My message is, take care of yourself, man,” he said. “Go to the doctor. Get checked out. Do what you’re supposed to do. Everything is okay in moderation. But we got to make those steps and be disciplined in what we do.”
We Want Everyone to Live
Anthony Anderson was adamant about everyone who’s struggling with the disease to take their heath seriously, especially the Black community, who may have higher chances of developing diabetes.
“We want Black folks to live,” he said. “We want everybody to live, but in particular, Black folks, especially with diabetes.”
