As Coach Deion Sanders continues through the first season exploring the highs and lows of running a Division I football team, many under him are gaining knowledge and some of the most unique experiences ever in their careers.
As recruiting staff workers perform their daily duties in finding future players, most of them reflect on their past and how beneficial their current positions have been thus far working for Sanders.
Learning Every Day
Jourdan Blake is Assistant Director/High School Relations and he said working with Coach Prime has “been a blessing.”
“He’s won everywhere he’s been,” Blake said. “Every organization he’s been a part of. I’ve had three previous schools, but I’ve learned a lot here. Just his approach, day-to-day work ethic, and we expect to win. We don’t hope to win, we expect to win. So, you know, it tells itself three weeks in that we’re serious and that it’s more than just words and slogans. So, it’s been an honor and a blessing to continue to learn every day.”
It’s Very Rewarding and Fulfilling
The staff appreciates Deion Sanders’ way of doing things differently in a Division I program. Underneath him, the staff admires this, which excites them even more. Director of Recruiting, Darrius Darden-Box, said the opportunity is “once in a lifetime.”
“I couldn’t say no to it, honestly,” he said. “And then the way we did things, you know, seeing the success is such a big reward. I’ve never done it like this before as far as like transfer portal, relying off true freshmen. I mean, we’re doing it, you know, and so it’s very rewarding and fulfilling.”
