During his visit to Boulder this season, NBA Hall-of-Famer Julius “Dr. J” Erving spoke highly of Deion Sanders and the one-on-one conversation they had that week.
He’s Been Breaking Down the House
Erving took the time to mention how much he admires Sanders and all that he’s done throughout his career. Moreso, having the opportunity to see him again face-to face.
“Well, it was good,” Erving said. “I think it was healthy both ways. You know, we had met a long time ago, maybe like 20 years ago at the ESPYs. And since that time, I’ve been enjoying retirement and he’s been breaking down the house.”
Erving thoroughly enjoyed his time spent chatting with Sanders.
“Just to see him and spend a half hour going back and forth and talking about the mutual feelings that we have for one another and for the way that our careers went,” he said. “That’s precious, man.”
I Was Hopeful that Somebody Would be Following Me
Erving went on to say how much it meant to him seeing someone influenced by him. He admires the qualities Sanders exudes.
“I had to follow somebody and I was hopeful that somebody would be following me,” Erving said. “So, he’s that guy. You know, when you look at him, he always keeps his head up high. He’s always truthful. He’s always in the moment. Never afraid. He’s fearless. And that’s something that I admire about him. The type of man he is, the type of father he is, the type of American that he is.”
