An Open Letter Happy Birthday to My Big Brother, Coach Brett Bartolone: The Big 30!
I believe that God created big brothers for two reasons. One of those reasons is to make your life harder, and the other is to make your life easier. While at first this makes zero sense, it is actually quite simple. When I was a kid, there were times where my big brother would drive me crazy. With all the pranks, jokes, and sometimes fighting that came along the way, it isn’t until adulthood that you fully realize that your big brother made you tougher and helped clear pathways for you that you had no idea were even there.
Brett, the accomplishments that you have achieved before the age of 30 is remarkable, yet we have always known that this sport would take you as far as you put your mind to. From drawing up plays for my friends and I on the playground in elementary school, to drawing up plays for Shedeur Sanders at Jackson State, you were born to be a leader in this great sport. You have coached many talented players in the past and present, and you will coach many more talented players in the future. But as your only little brother, I am grateful to be the first “player” you ever coached.
Thank you for this amazing ride that you have taken myself and the family on. You have given a die-hard football family experiences we could only dream of in the past. As you enter the next decade of your life, there is no doubt you will do what you have done your whole life: ATTACK. Sko Buffs!
