Charlie Offerdahl is one of the more popular players on the Colorado football team because of his attitude and how he prepares for practice. To a man every Colorado player will testify that Offerdahl doesn’t complain and works as hard as any player on the team. Prior to the spring game, Offerdahl was awarded for his hard work when Deion Sanders awarded him a scholarship.
Offerdahl was in the locker room with his teammates under the impression he was being awarded with the Spring football player of the year. While that particular award was true, it was also part of a ploy to make sure that Offerdahl would invite his family to Boulder for the weekend. After the initial award was bestowed upon Offerdahl, Coach Prime let the real cat out of the bag by awarding him the scholarship. At that point everyone in the locker room erupted.
“Teary eyed, I mean I was in there boo-hooing like, like I was part of the family, which I feel like I’m part of the family. He was raised correctly. Wonderful mother and father who supported him 100 percent of the way. His brother is going to follow in his footsteps. Charlie, is the prototype man. He’s a man. I love what he stands for. I love who he is,” Sanders said in a press conference.
