The comings and goings of Colorado football players has been a steady menu item in the national media. Transfer portal aside, there’s no doubt about one location the Colorado players set as a destination under Deion Sanders. The classroom.
Coach Prime shared on social media today a text message he received stating that his football players achieved the second highest term GPA in school history. The previous record was the GPA set by his players last spring. Also for the first time in Colorado history the team had a cumulative GPA that was above 3.0.
“We’re Raising & Building men not boys! The goal is to win on & off the field! Smart, Tough, Fast , Discipline athletes with Character. If they don’t possess or confirm to who we are and how we are they’ve got to go because we’re gonna WIN on & OFF the field. Please report this,” Sanders wrote in the caption on Instagram.
The post on IG was liked by over 82,000 people in the first 8 hours of its posting.
Records continue to fall
The classroom records aren’t the only ones being broken in the second year of Coach Prime.
CU has officially sold out of season tickets for the upcoming season, selling out for the second straight season and just the10th time in the history of the program.
This marks just the second time that the Buffs have sold out of season tickets before August of an upcoming season. The only other time it happened was last season in Sanders’ debut season.
Prior to 2023 Colorado had gone 27 years since it’s last season ticket sell out. The golden seven-year run from 1990-96, Colorado sold out each season. The only other time CU sold out of season tickets was the 1972 season.
“Selling out of season tickets for the second year in a row shows how strong our fan base is and the continued impact of and trust in Coach Prime,” CU Athletic Director Rick George said. “We are ready for an exciting 2024 season and expect a full house for every game for the second straight season.”
