The magic of college football will fully engulf us this September, but the networks need to impress the advertisers in May. Fox knows a winner when it sees one which is why Colorado head coach Deion Sanders was a part of the network’s upfront presentation to advertisers on Monday in New York.
Fox play by play man Gus Johnson introduced Deion Sanders with a loud crowd chant of “Primetime” as part of the company’s Big Noon Saturday college football pitch. “What I notice about Fox, is when we win, you all show up,” said Sanders. “I love the transfer portal, by the way. Twelve playoff teams, and we plan on being one of them.”
Colorado was a big part of Big Noon Saturday on Fox last season. In week five Fox averaged 7.2 million viewers for a close USC-Colorado game, which peaked at 10.3 million viewers from 3:00-3:45pm ET.
Jamie Foxx was also a presenter at the upfronts on behalf of Fox. It was a great opportunity for Sanders to reunite with his friend.
“Thank u @cfbonfox @nflonfox for making me apart of your Upfronts. This was awesome! God bless Everyone in the photo and the 1z that got cut out because they were on the end. Wow. I appreciate all Y’all. #CoachPrime especially my brother @iamjamiefoxx who’s been thru it, to it & still doing it. Lawd Jesus I’m proud of u my brother. God is Good,” Sanders posted on Instagram.
Sanders shared the stage along with Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski, Alex Rodriguez, Derek Jeter and Fox.
Fox wasn’t the only one touting Deion Sanders at the 2024 upfronts. Amazon had some news to share as well, announcing that “Coach Prime” was being renewed for a third season. The docuseries, which centers around Colorado football and Sanders, is executive produced by SMAC Entertainment’s Constance Schwartz-Morini, Michael Strahan, Fred Anthony Smith, and Jamie Elias as well as showrunner Micah Brown.
