The impact being felt in Colorado has been created by more than Coach Prime. His sons Shedeur and Shilo Sanders have became the star players on their sides of the ball. His daughter Shelomi is a future star of a Buffs women’s basketball team that made the Sweet 16 last season and recently defeated the defending champions, LSU, in their kickoff game earlier this week. And his son Deion Jr. has built a brand documenting the behind-the-scenes operations of his dad.
In his sit-down with Uncle Neely, Deion Sanders reflected on the different aspects that create success away from the field.
“I can’t possibly have a bad day,” he said. “Even in defeat, I win. I’m seeing three of my sons run off the field after giving them their all. My momma’s here, my sisters are here, my nephews are here. How can I possibly lose? You can count the game as a defeat, but I ain’t losing.”
On the flip side however, Sanders’ natural state of positivity and reflection don’t stop people from spewing negativity. In the course of a football season, things are always moving. There is no time to dwell on losses or shortcomings.
“How can some people wake up so negative and nasty?” he said. “I don’t even understand the logic. Even after some of the games, I tell them ‘Guys, don’t get caught up in that stuff on social.’ The same thing that will make you smile will make you cry.”
