The Buffs last home game was once again a time to see some big-time celebrities and stars support Deion Sanders and the Buffs.
This time Boulder, Colorado was able to host TV star, businessman, and CEO of Big Baller Brand, Lavar Ball.
Ball has always been somewhat of a controversial figure in the sports world. When it comes to his three sons, all either played or currently play in the NBA.
It’s Just Two Great Black Fathers Doing Their Best
Ball was in high spirits at the game. He expressed the importance and impact Sanders has shown both as a coach and a father.
“I’m glad I got a chance to come out here and hang with you guys, man,” he said. “And just the narrative folks try to say, Deion trying to be like Lavar, Lavar trying to be like Deion, no. It’s just two great black fathers doing the best for their family.”
I’m in the Race
Lavar has never been one to not speak his mind and stressed the importance of betting on yourself.
“We do all the running and jumping into stuff and we don’t own nothing,” Ball said, “That’s why I switched that up, said man, we gonna have the ownership in this. And it’s huge. And folks sometimes try to say, well, I don’t know about Big Baller Brand, it ain’t that big. Hey, I’m in the race. Whether I’m the first in the beginning or the last. A lot of people ain’t even in the race.”
Uncle Neely mentioned the similarities between Coach Deion Sanders, Lavar Ball, and himself in terms of being cut from the same cloth. It’s all about prioritizing and creating opportunities for people of color to be able to create more opportunities for their communities and profit off of their hard work.
The Big Baller Brand is a representation of the same goals and visions that Deion Sanders hopes to achieve while in Boulder.
