Deion Sanders and The Colorado Buffaloes, regardless of the season’s outcome, was a huge success story.
Elevating a school’s athletic program is no easy task. Sanders was able to do this in the span of one year. He broke record numbers for the school in terms of attendance and sales, and achieved so many accolades along the way.
The fans crowded around stadiums and tv screens wouldn’t have been possible without taking chances. Thee Pregame Show’s Uncle Neely emphasized this on his recent interview with The Sko Show.
Seeing is Believing
Neely recalled when he first met Deion Sanders at Jackson State, and the subsequent relationship they’ve built over the years. Eventually, Sanders invited Neely out to Colorado.
“He said, ‘Hey, Neely, look, don’t make a decision right now, I gotta go out there for a few days, just take a trip with me,'” Neely said. “Well, seeing is believing. You know, it doesn’t take long to be in Boulder or Colorado and fall in love with it. Saw the facility, saw all the things that he had planned and was gonna be working on, and man, it was an easy decision.”
Just Love Being Here
Neely also spoke on how much he’s loved this program and emphasized the best is yet to come.
“You know, just love being here, love covering this program,” he said. “Still watch my Jackson State Tigers when I can. Sometimes they’re playing in the afternoons and we’re playing at night. That’s my school where I graduated from and love it. But Thee Pregame Show has been just totally immersed in Colorado football since December.”
As the season has gone from a 1-11 record program to now a 4-8 program, Neely and Sanders believes wholeheartedly there are big things in the future for the University of Colorado.
