Deion Sanders just achieved something major. He was recognized as Sports Illustrated 2023 Sportsperson of the Year.
The publication came to this decision by highlighting Sanders’ achievements for both Colorado football and Jackson State. Whether it be on the gridiron or at the school, Sanders improves his programs — without question. Almost like Lebron James with any team.
This is what he’s done both on and off the field. The university and city have seen many changes since the arrival of their star coach.
Deion Sanders’ Impact, All in One Year
In one year alone, Sanders has achieved many feats! Besides overall improving a Division I school’s athletic program, Sanders has made a cultural impact. It’s produced nothing but positive results.
Freshman enrollment at The University of Colorado and applications are up at least 25% this year alone. Black or African American applications have increased 80.6%. Out-of-state applications have also increased at least 25% and international students almost 40% worldwide.
For the first time in school history, every CU home game in 50,183-seat Folsom Field was sold out.
It’s no longer a myth; The Prime Effect came to Boulder, Colorado.
To say that this isn’t one of if not the best sports story of the year, is beyond delusional.
