Deion Sanders had a front row to the individual exploits of two of his sons during the Colorado football season. On Saturday night Shelomi Sanders had her turn.
The 19-year-old guard for the Colorado women’s basketball team scored her first points of the season on Saturday, a three pointer in the final minute of the game. Deion Sanders shared the moment on social media.
“Please show my Babygirl some love. She broke her hand and just getting her 1st opportunity to play today with our great @cubuffswbb team. This is her 1st bucket as a Buffalo. Thank u @derickswanson for capturing this moment. @shelomisanders first bucket,” Sanders wrote on Instagram.
It was a road game against Air Force Academy so the proud father wasn’t able to witness it in person. The Colorado head coach did Facetime his daughter afterward and received the full play by play from his daughter.
“MY BABEEEEEEEEE GO GURLLLLL! I’M SO PROUD OF U BABYLOVE! ❤️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥-Love how supportive your teammates and the entire crowd jumped up and cheered for u! Everyone felt this energy- that’s the energy u give at every game – LOVE IT!!!! ❤️,” her mother Pilar Sanders chimed in on Instagram.
CU won the game 74-58 improving to 8-1 on the season. The team that previously beat LSU this season is now No. 7 in the country in the AP poll. Sanders played two minutes in the game, scoring three points and collecting one rebound.
The team plays Tuesday at home versus UT-Arlington.
The CU women’s account even had a little fun with the moment on social media. They posed the question “Let’s talk about those family rankings now🦬🤩.” A playful jab at Deion Sanders’ tongue in cheek ritual of ranking his children in order of his favorites depending on his own personal criteria.
