Lauren Askevold is the head athletic trainer for the Colorado football program. She followed Deion Sanders from Jackson State and understands the type of player that Coach Prime is looking for. She says that she sees a lot more of that type of player on this year’s squad.
“Night and day, I think there was somebody put out a tweet out there recently and they showed like the receiver room this time last year and the receiver room that we have now. It’s like completely changed, right? I don’t say better, but more competitive. Like athletes are more competitive. We just have more dogs. We have what Coach Prime is looking for right? We have what it takes to get us to a national playoff,” Askevold told Uncle Neely from Thee Pregame Show.
Lauren Askevold goes on to say it’s not just a difference that you can see, but one that you can hear.
“I mean, last year, this time there was no chirping. You know, I’m used to football teams that are chirping, right? Like we came from an HBCU, where every day at practice is a competition. Every day at practice there is chirping. . This time last year, nobody was chirping. Everybody seemed very timid. Granted, it was a new staff we get that. But now it’s one on ones. oh my gosh, it’s so fun to watch. Now they all talk, they settle their differences. They are more competitive, more dog in them on the field.”
“Get ready Buff nation, cause it’s going to be fun. This might be our most fun team that I’ve worked with.”
