George has held the position since 2013, and is only the sixth full-time athletic director in Colorado history. Throughout his two separate stints in the position, Rick George’s achievements include overseeing a $156 million Athletic Complex Expansion from creation through fruition, implementing the department’s first-ever comprehensive strategic plan, and of course, hiring Sanders and ushering in the “Prime Effect” era.
NACDA CEO Pat Manak said they are “honored to continue the tradition and recognize a new class of individuals.”
“As an Association it is part of our mission to develop tomorrow’s leaders led by today’s decision makers,” Manak said.
George was one of four honored in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) and one of 28 honored by NACDA throughout seven divisions, ranging from FBS to the junior college and community college level.
