At the beginning of this collegiate football offseason, speculation of Pro Football Hall of Famer Warren Sapp joining the CU coaching staff began circulating. The news got hot then died down, but the move has now been confirmed and made official.

Sapp spoke to his new guys during their Easter team meeting on Sunday, “So it’s Senior… Quality… Control… Analyst,” he explained. “It’s a mouthful, and you’ll hear me before you see me most of the time… big fellas, ‘stance, alignment, and assignment.’ That’s where we’re going to start ’cause you know I like nice stuff, and we’re building mansions here… I’m here to help you build your mansion. Anything you need come see me; I’m in 416.”
Coach Sapp then told the funny story about how he and Buffaloes Head Coach Deion Sanders met, and how he has looked up to Prime since the age of twelve. They ran into each other while Sapp was in college at The University of Miami and Sanders was in town to play Super Bowl XXIX against the then-San Diego Chargers.
“We had a conversation… He’s on the way out the door — him, Ken Norton Jr., Ricky Jackson — some monsters… So I yelled at him and said ‘Tony Martin’s going deep!’ I think Tony Martin might’ve hated I ever said that to Deion, I think he choked him for four quarters during that Super Bowl… I’ve loved this man to death from the first time I saw him because he doesn’t know I grew up watching him race Sammy Smith from my high school. I’ve been a Deion Sanders fan since I was twelve years old fellas, we’re all here for the man, let’s go ride, and [it’s] championship time.”
