With the beginning of fall camp on the horizon, Colorado head coach Deion Sanders had some parting words for his players prior to their last full week of summer break.
With players having the opportunity to return home for one final week Sanders warned of the potential trappings. Here’s a portion of his speech.
“The next few days will be pivotal in your growth, in our dreams and our ambitions. Listen to me clearly. Do not allow 30 seconds to 5 minutes of pleasure to cause you to have regret for a lifetime. Thirty seconds to five minutes of pleasure can cause you to have regrets for a lifetime. Don’t make that mistake because you’re different now. You got that CU on your chest,” Sanders said.
Not everyone is there to lift you up
“Everybody see you on social. Everybody’s see you on the videos. They see you on YouTube. They want to be a part of you. Not everybody is there to lift you up. There’s a lot of folks there to bring you down. Even family members, even those loved ones and those girls that you made the phone calls to and checked on. When you get home, you go check on them. Don’t allow 30 seconds to five minutes of pleasure.”
“If you don’t do right, you know what that’s going to turn into. turn into a lifetime of regret. Be respectful. Be kind, be considerate. You work out. You all worked too hard to go home and don’t do nothing. Then you come back. We’re going to do something the time we get back. We going to bond, we’re going to get closer together.”
“I’m so darn proud of you all I don’t know what to do man. I’m really, really proud of you all.”
