Head Football Coach Deion Sanders sat down for reporters’ questions at a press conference Friday.
Sanders spoke on how the team is operating as a unit.
“I love going to practice each day witnessing the battles that we have at certain positions,” he said. “Receiver battles, offensive line, defensive line, defensive backs, corners. It’s unbelievable man. And I love the depth that we’re playing right now.”
Sanders said the guys that were held over through roster changes can speak best on the team’s current dynamic.
“Ask them how much better this team looks,” he said. “How much closer this team is.”
They Know What the Goal Is
As far as the movement of different teams in college football, Sanders isn’t worried.
“We’re trying to win, man,” he said. “I don’t care where we play. I don’t care what conference, who we’re playing against, we’re trying to win.”
Sanders described the unity between the players brought onto the team over the spring and summer as “unbelievable.”
“You got to see them at lunch, breakfast, dinner, just around the complex, out around town,” he said. “These guys are really solid and they’re really unified and they know what the common goal is, and that’s to win. And they want to go pro. They want to get to the next level. They want to be a pillar in the community.”
Sanders said he loves what he’s seeing.
“The coaches are doing a phenomenal job of blending everything and meshing everything together,” he said. “But these kids, we’ve got to give them credit for what they’re accomplishing. It’s not an all white table at lunch, you know, it’s not an all black table at lunch. It’s a team, and I love that”
