On Friday for the first time in over a decade, a college football video game will be released and it has the world buzzing. A big part of the hype is Colorado teammates Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter. Both Buffalo players are ranked in the top 20 according to player ratings released by EA Sports.
Shedeur Sanders is the top rated quarterback on the EA Sports College Football 25 game, with an overall 93 rating. He’s the 17th overall player in the game, just one position ahead of Georgia quarterback Carson Beck. Both players got a 93 rating, something that Sanders and his father Deion Sanders took issue with.
“I mean I don’t believe in — it’s a tie, I don’t believe in ties when it comes to quarterback. When it comes to quarterback ratings, I don’t believe in ties. It’s either a winner or loser, like let’s just get to the point.”
Sanders completed just under 70% of his passes for Colorado last season. He threw for 3,230 yards and 27 touchdowns with three interceptions. Beck completed over 72% of his passes, throwing for 3,941 passes, 24 touchdowns and six interceptions. The Georgia star played in 14 games in 2023, while Sanders played in 11 contests.
The elder Sanders offered his thoughts both on his son and Travis Hunter, the dynamic two way star. Hunter was significantly ahead of Sanders in the rankings. He was No. 6 overall with a 95 rating, the highest rating a player can receive is a 99.
“I’m just trying to figure out how can Shedeur be tied with another person. How did that happen? And how can Travis not have the highest score on the game when he’s arguably the best receiver and the best defensive back in college football? So, how can you not be the number one rated guy, period? I don’t understand that either.”
This is the first college football game since 2013 after EA Sports shut down production of all college sports games following an antitrust lawsuit filed by former UCLA college basketball player Ed O’Bannon. EA Sports was able to bring the game back after the NCAA began allowing players to profit off of their name, image and likeness.
Both Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter have already played against one another in a live stream of EA College Football 25, with Sanders routing Hunter in a blowout.
